Personal Training
One-on-one fitness training with a nationally certified trainer is available for a fee. Our goal is to evaluate, motivate and educate anyone who desires the extra edge personal training offers. For more information or to set up a consultation contact the YMCA Wellness Center at 803-366-9622.

Fitness Center

The YMCA Wellness Center is fully equipped including Magnum weight machines, free weights, treadmills, stair climbers, recumbent bikes, and cross trainers.

Fitness Center Orientations

Fitness Center orientations with a certified strength trainer or personal trainer are available free of charge. We provide a safe, effective, easy-to-understand, personalized workout program. Call to set up an appointment. All children must be 15 or older to use the weights unless they have completed the youth strength training course for ages 12-14.

Fitness Classes

Certified exercise instructors teach all fitness classes. All aerobics classes contain cardiovascular, strength, and flexibility exercises. (The durations and intensity of each depends on the class description.) Call 366-YMCA for times and locations of classes, pick up a monthly schedule at the front desk, or view the fitness schedule and class descriptions here.

Yoga Classes

>GENTLE YOGA
For both new and experienced practitioners who
seek a gentle yet effective approach to their Yoga. A slow, relaxing
approach to learning traditional yoga poses. Great for beginners or
those who prefer a more gentle approach.
>BEGINNER YOGA
This Class offers a flow style of yoga based on the
primary series to accommodate all levels of students. Strengthens
the musculature, improves flexibility, calms the mind and decreases
stress. It moves each joint in the body through its full range of
motion-stretching, strengthening and balancing each area.
>YOGA
Reduces stress, enhances breathing, relaxes, tones muscles
and more through a mindful method of mental and physical wellbeing
training.

Sit to Be Fit!

Sit to Be Fit is a chair based class that involves light weight exercises
using weights and exercise bands. Stretching is also involved as well
as exercises used to alleviate the pain of arthritis.

Zumba

Zumba fuses Latin rhythms and easy to follow moves to
create a dynamic workout system that will blow you away.
The routines feature interval training sessions where fast and slow
rhythms and resistance training are combined to tone and sculpt your
body while burning fat.

Health Screenings

The YMCA Wellness Center offers a variety of health screenings on a regular basis. Most of the tests are available at a fraction of the cost paid at a medical center. The tests include: cholesterol screenings, PSA, caloric intake diagnosis, osteoporosis screenings and more. Visit the Other Activities page for more information on upcoming dates.

Lunch and Learn

Bring a bag lunch for an informative lunch with an area expert. The Wellness Center invites the public for a lecture on various topics throughout the year. Past Lunch and Learn topics include “Oh, My Aching Back” and “Tips for Nutritious Eating”. Visit the Other Activities page for more information on upcoming dates.

Rehabilitation

The Wellness Center is staffed with a Registered Nurse. She can work with your physical therapist or doctor to tailor a plan for continued rehabilitation. Contact the Wellness Center to set up a free consultation.
