Diabetes Prevention Program
The YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program is a one-year, community-based program where participants work in small groups with a trained Lifestyle Coach in a relaxed, classroom setting. In 16 weekly sessions followed by 8 monthly sessions, participants learn how to incorporate healthier eating, moderate physical activity, and problem-solving and coping skills into their daily lives. Participants will get the hands-on support they need from Lifestyle Coaches trained on a CDC-approved curriculum that is part of the CDC-led National Diabetes Prevention Program.
“…programs like YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program reduce new cases of type 2 diabetes by 58% overall and 71% in individuals over age 60.” – research from the National Institutes of Health
The program emphasizes two primary goals for the first half of the program: reduce body weight by 7% and increase physical activity by 150 minutes per week. To sign up, participants must be:
- at least 18 years old;
- overweight (BMI greater than or equal to 25); AND
- Diagnosed with prediabetes via a blood test or gestational diabetes;
- if a blood test is not available, a qualifying risk score

We offer swim lessons in monthly sessions. Each session includes 8 lessons (twice a week). We also offer a Saturday morning session which includes 4 lessons over 4 weeks.
Weekday Lessons: Members $45/ Non-Members $70

What is the best swim lesson level for my child?
6 months – 3 years old
Accompanied by a parent, infants and toddlers learn to be comfortable in the water and develop swim readiness skills building experiences, while parents learn about water safety, drowning prevention, and the importance of supervision.
3-5 years old
In this swim basics program, preschoolers learn personal water safety and achieve basic swimming competency by learning two benchmark skills—swim, float, swim and jump, push, turn, grab. Through multiple sessions, children may progress to water movement, water stamina and stroke introduction.
6-12 years old
In this program, children may begin at any of the six stages in our swim program: water acclimation to stroke mechanics. The YMCA aquatics director can help determine the appropriate level. For more information about the various levels, click on the program overview link above.
13 years & older
Adult lessons help those who have an acute fear of the water up to those that need advanced stroke development. The course is fun and low key, with the participant setting the pace of the course. Participants may begin at any of the six stages in our swim program: water acclimation to stroke mechanics.
1- 30 minute lesson: $25 Members | $30 Non-members
4- 30 minute lesson:s $90 Members | $120 Non-members
One on one instruction at any swimming level from a qualified instructor. Fast pace learning with significant skill improvement.
Please Note: While classes fill quickly, we strive to meet the needs of all our participants. If a class is full, please put your name and phone number on our waiting list as we add classes each session based upon need, pool space, and instructors availability. We will contact you if there is an opening. Also, lessons may be available at our other branches: Rock Hill YMCA Aquatics Center, Charlotte Avenue YMCA, CSD Community YMCA and the Fort Mill YMCA.
Adventure Guides is a father/child program that provides opportunities for fathers and children to spend quality time together making memories. It is a program designed to build strong, lasting relationships by fostering understanding, companionship and a shared appreciation for outdoors.
There is a tentative schedule, as Adventure Guides will meet about 5 – 6 times per year at various locations.

$175 for Y Members and Non-members
Additional fees will be included during the bigger camping trips. This fee is intended as a sign-up fee and covering costs for smaller events.
Group Fitness Classes
We offer a variety of fitness classes each week! We have certified instructors in classes such as Yoga, Beginner Yoga, Pilates, Zumba, Cardio Sculpt, and On the Ball.
