Charlotte Avenue Branch YMCA

Aquatics

The Charlotte Avenue Branch YMCA features a outdoor pool and a heated indoor pool. The outdoor pool has 3 water slides and is open for the summer. The outdoor pool hours are as follows:

Until June 26th:
Monday – Friday: 2:00 – 4:30, 5:45 – 8:00pm
Saturday & Sunday: 2:00 – 5:00pm

June 27th – Aug 14th:
Monday – Friday: 2:00 – 8:00pm
Saturday & Sunday: 2:00 – 5:00pm

August 20th – September 4th:
Saturday & Sunday: 2:00 – 5:00pm

This course instructs participants in both lifeguarding and CPR for the professional rescuer.  Successful completion of this course will gain participants certification by the American Red Cross.

Spring/Summer Swim Lesson Registration Form

We are thrilled to present to you our new YMCA/Red Cross Swim Lesson program!  Our staff has been working hard to improve and cultivate our swim lesson program.  And here it is!  Our new program will inspire your little swimmer to meet goals, take challenges, and grow in confidence and self-assurance.
You may see that the names of our levels have changed.  If you need assistance in the placement of your child in YMCA/Red Cross Swim Lessons, please do not hesitate to contact us.  We look forward to your family participating in this program!

Parent-Child
6 months – 3 years old

Level 1- Introduction to the water and preparation for the Learn-to-Swim courses.  No prerequisites, but must be at least 6 months old to enroll.  Parent or caregiver must accompany child into the water and participate in the class.
Cost per Level:  $45 Members | $ 70 Non-members

Aqua Tots
Ages: 2 years – 3 years

Aqua Tots is designed for children who might struggle with the transition between Parent/Child and Preschool classes. This class will be taught in a Preschool class atmosphere with the same skill objectives as Preschool classes, with the benefit of the student’s parent being in the water with the child. It is great for children who have never had a teacher/student opportunity, and those children who may not yet be ready for Preschool classes.
Cost:  $45 Members | $ 70 Non-members

Preschool
3-5 years old

Level 1- Orients preschool-age children to the aquatic environment and to help them acquire rudimentary level aquatic skills.
Level 2- Builds on the basic aquatic skills learned in Level 1.
Level 3- Increases proficiency and builds on the aquatic skills learned in Levels 1 and 2 by providing additional practice with increased distances and times.
Cost per Level:  $45 Members | $ 70 Non-members

Youth
6-12 years old

Learn-to-Swim Level 1- Develop positive attitudes, good swimming habits and safe practices in and around water.
Learn-to-Swim Level 2- Gives participants success with fundamental skills, including learning how to float without support and recover to vertical.
Learn-to-Swim Level 3- Builds on the skills in Level 2 by providing additonal guided practice in deeper water.
Learn-to-Swim Level 4- Develops participants’ confidence in the strokes learned in Level 3 and to improve other aquatic skills.
Cost per Level:  $45 Members | $ 70 Non-members

Adult
Ages: 13 years & older

Adult lessons help those who have an acute fear of the water up to those that need advanced stroke development. The course is fun and low key, with the participant setting the pace of the course.

Private Lessons
All classes are offered!

Shark Swim Club

Ages: 5 years – 18 years
A club for swimmers that want a less competitive atmosphere and focuses on skills and endurance. This is a month to month program offered August through April.

Please Note: While classes fill quickly, we strive to meet the needs of all our participants. If a class is full, please put your name and phone number on our waiting list as we add classes each session based upon
need, pool space, and instructors availability. We will contact you if there is an opening. We will not contact you if there are not any openings.

 

 

 

 


Arthritis Aquatics

Arthritis Aquatics

Ages: 15 and older

Find relief by taking this course, which puts you through specific exercises to alleviate some of the aches and pains caused by arthritis. A doctor’s note is required in order to take this class.


Pool Parties

Pool Parties

The YMCA can host celebrations for birthdays, anniversaries, and other special occasions. Come and have fun in the pool before eating in the lobby area. Book early; there is limited space. View our Special Programs page for more details.


Family Swim

All ages

Family Swim offers a special time for families to enjoy the pool. A parent must accompany children.


Water Walking

Ages: 15 and older

1 mile walked in the water is equivalent to 3 miles on land!


Self-Motivated Exercise

Ages: 15 and older

Self-Motivated Exercise allows adult participants, who do not want a structured class, to walk and swim across the pool, or workout alone.


Water Aerobics (Aquacise)

Ages: 15 and older

Aquacise is aerobics in the water at varied levels of intensity. It offers a wonderful way to keep fit while not impacting heavily on joints. It uses natural resistance from the water to help tone and develop muscle strength.
