Healthy Weight & Your Child

Charlotte Avenue Branch YMCA

YMCA youth sports programs promote healthy kids, families and communities by placing a priority on family involvement, healthy competition, the value of participation over winning, and team building.  Parents are encouraged to be more than mere spectators by contributing their time as volunteer coaches and team parents as well as being their kid’s number one fan.

Sponsoring a YMCA Youth Sports team not only is a great way to market to our area, it also shows that you are active in making our community a better place to live, work and raise a family.  Want to help? Come out to the YMCA and ask how!  We are in need of caring individuals to coach and support each team.

No experience is required. All you need to know is how to encourage!

Race for Chase Triathlon Training Program

Race for Chase Triathlon Training Program

The CMAK Foundation has collaborated with the YMCA to sponsor the Race4Chase Kid’s Triathlon in memoriam of Chase Kowalski, the students, and educators of the Sandy Hook tragedy. This six week summer program aims to keep Chase’s energetic spirit alive by inspiring athleticism within children, ages 6 to 12, and providing them with a safe, healthy, non-competitive environment to develop a new love for the sport of triathlon. All athletes are instructed in swimming, biking, and running, and are also taught the fundamentals of good nutrition and flexibility. At the end of program, all of the athletes in each community compete in a short youth triathlon race.

This will be an application process, you are not guaranteed a spot. Participants are selected based on their applications. All applications are due by April 30, 2019. The application process will begin January 1, 2019 and all participants will know if they are in the program no later than May 15, 2019. If you are selected you must be willing to participate in the training and race day Saturday, July 27, 2019 at the CSD Community YMCA.

Play, Grow, Thrive!  YMCA T-Ball leagues are coed leagues that emphasize teamwork and fair play.  Children learn the basics of throwing, hitting and catching the ball.  Y staff will facilitate the leagues while parents and volunteers coach/lead the teams.  The YMCA will provide bats, balls and catcher equipment and each player will receive a hat and jersey from the YMCA.  Parents will need to provide their child with a glove, athletic shoes (cleats are not required) and any additional equipment they deem appropriate.
