Accompanied by a parent, infants and toddlers learn to be comfortable in the water and develop swim readiness skills building experiences, while parents learn about water safety, drowning prevention, and the importance of supervision.

In this swim basics program, preschoolers learn personal water safety and achieve basic swimming competency by learning two benchmark skills—swim, float, swim and jump, push, turn, grab. Through multiple sessions, children may progress to water movement, water stamina and stroke introduction.

Challenger’s British Soccer Camp

In partnership with Challenger Sports, CSD Community YMCA is offering the Challenger’s British
Soccer Camp. Each child will be coached by a member of Challenger’s British coaching staff; flown to the USA exclusively to work on these programs. Participants will receive a FREE camp t-shirt, soccer ball, soccer
poster, individual skills performance evaluation and free access to an educational soccer website.

Masters Swim at CSD Community YMCA

Masters Swim is a swim program for those 18 years of age or older looking for fun, fitness, and friendship.  This program is open to swimmers of all abilities. Whether you’re a lap swimmer looking to join a group workout, an open water swimmer looking for year round training or a triathlon swimmer training for a triathlon this program can improve your stroke technique. Participants will be challenged to become a stronger and physically fit swimmer.

YMCA Adventure Guides

Adventure Guides is a father/child program that provides opportunities for fathers and children to spend quality time together making memories. The program is designed to build strong lasting relationships by understanding companionship and a shared appreciation for the outdoors. Fall and spring trips are included. Cost:
$109 per adult | $99 per child
All other events are optional and will require a separate registration.
Additional fees will include camping materials and food during camping trips. YMCA Camp Cherokee will provide meals during the Fall and Spring Longhouse events.

 


Diabetes Prevention Program

The YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program is a one-year, community-based program where participants work in small groups with a trained Lifestyle Coach in a relaxed, classroom setting. In 16 weekly sessions followed by 8 monthly sessions, participants learn how to incorporate healthier eating, moderate physical activity, and problem-solving and coping skills into their daily lives. Participants will get the hands-on support they need from Lifestyle Coaches trained on a CDC-approved curriculum that is part of the CDC-led National Diabetes Prevention Program.

Race for Chase Triathlon Training Program

The CMAK Foundation has collaborated with the YMCA to sponsor the Race4Chase Kid’s Triathlon in memoriam of Chase Kowalski, the students, and educators of the Sandy Hook tragedy. This six week summer program aims to keep Chase’s energetic spirit alive by inspiring athleticism within children, ages 6 to 12, and providing them with a safe, healthy, non-competitive environment to develop a new love for the sport of triathlon. All athletes are instructed in swimming, biking, and running, and are also taught the fundamentals of good nutrition and flexibility. At the end of program, all of the athletes in each community compete in a short-course USAT-sanctioned youth triathlon race.

This will be an application process, you are not guaranteed a spot. Those chosen will be notified from May 1-May 5, 2018. If you are selected you must be willing to participate in the training and the race.

*All sites will hold a parent meeting on May 17, 2018.
