Home School Stroke Clinic

Are you a parent of Home School Students and have a child interested in taking their swimming skills to the next level? If so, join us in the pool as we kick off our inaugural  stroke clinic sessions for Home School Participants! In our homeschool group we will start with learning the basic technique for each of the four strokes (Freestyle, Backstroke, Butterfly and Breastroke). We will then work on gaining strength and efficiency in order for swimmers to use their knowledge for leisure, exercise, or to explore the world of competitive swimming.

American Red Cross Lifeguard Training

American Red Cross Lifeguard Training

American Red Cross Lifeguard Training instructors will train and certify participants in American Red Cross Lifeguard programs. The program will include CPR/First Aid/AED and emergency oxygen. Certifications can be used to work at YMCA pools as well as other aquatic facilities. There will be 4 weekend sessions beginning in August through November Friday through Sunday.

We offer swim lessons in monthly sessions. Each session includes 8 lessons (twice a week). We also offer a Saturday morning session which includes 8 lessons over  8 weeks.

Accompanied by a parent, infants and toddlers learn to be comfortable in the water and develop swim readiness skills building experiences, while parents learn about water safety, drowning prevention, and the importance of supervision.

In this swim basics program, preschoolers learn personal water safety and achieve basic swimming competency by learning two benchmark skills—swim, float, swim and jump, push, turn, grab. Through multiple sessions, children may progress to water movement, water stamina and stroke introduction.

Adult lessons help those who have an acute fear of the water up to those that need advanced stroke development. The course is fun and low key, with the participant setting the pace of the course. Participants may begin at any of the six stages in our swim program: water acclimation to stroke mechanics.

Please Note: While classes fill quickly, we strive to meet the needs of all our participants. If a class is full, please put your name and phone number on our waiting list, as we add classes each session based upon need, pool space, and instructor availability. We will contact you if there is an opening. Also, lessons may be available at our other branches: Rock Hill YMCA Aquatics Center, YMCA at Carolina Crossing, CSD Community YMCA and the Charlotte Avenue YMCA.
