American Red Cross Lifeguard Training

American Red Cross Lifeguard Training

American Red Cross Lifeguard Training instructors will train and certify participants in American Red Cross Lifeguard programs. The program will include CPR/First Aid/AED and emergency oxygen. Certifications can be used to work at YMCA pools as well as other aquatic facilities. There will be 4 weekend sessions beginning in August through November Friday through Sunday.

15 & up

2019 Fort Mill Marlins Swim Team

2019 Fort Mill Marlins Swim Team

This co-ed, summer swim league focuses on developing quality stroke technique, participation and fundamentals. Each participant’s age as of June 1 will determine their age division for the season. Practice times will be determined by age group.

Age: 5-14 year olds

American Red Cross Jr. Lifeguard

American Red Cross Junior Lifeguard Training will guild youth to the American Red Cross lifeguarding course by building a foundation of knowledge, attitudes and skills for future lifeguards. They will learn techniques and build stamina during this program. THEY WILL NOT RECEIVE A CERTIFICATION IN Lifeguarding or CPR/First Aid, AT THE END OF THE COURSE.

This program will be offered on two different weeks this summer. Choose only one week to attend.

Accompanied by a parent, infants and toddlers learn to be comfortable in the water and develop swim readiness skills building experiences, while parents learn about water safety, drowning prevention, and the importance of supervision.

In this swim basics program, preschoolers learn personal water safety and achieve basic swimming competency by learning two benchmark skills—swim, float, swim and jump, push, turn, grab. Through multiple sessions, children may progress to water movement, water stamina and stroke introduction.

Adult lessons help those who have an acute fear of the water up to those that need advanced stroke development. The course is fun and low key, with the participant setting the pace of the course. Please Note: While classes fill quickly, we strive to meet the needs of all our participants. If a class is full, please put your name and phone number on our waiting list, as we add classes each session based upon need, pool space, and instructor availability. We will contact you if there is an opening. Also, lessons may be available at our other branches: Rock Hill YMCA Aquatics Center, YMCA at Carolina Crossing, CSD Community YMCA and the Charlotte Avenue YMCA.
