Youth Dance

Youth Dance

Ages: 3-12

Our Youth Dance is a very popular program that continues to grow.  Classes are held at the Gold Hill and Fort Mill Branches.  Our classes are small in size (8-12 participants) to guarantee a lot of one-on-one instruction.  The program begins after Labor Day and wraps up with our optional dance recital in late April or early May 2012.

~ ALL REGISTRATIONS AND DANCE TRANSACTIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED AT THE GOLD HILL BRANCH ONLY ~

Registration Dates:
August 1, 2011 – Member registration (child must be a member)
August 8, 2011 – Nonmember registration

Season Dates:
September 12, 2011 – April 30, 2012

Cost:
$25 one-time, nonrefundable registration fee
$35/month Members (total $280) – child must remain a member throughout enrollment to obtain member rate
$50/month Nonmembers (total $400)
You may choose to pay for the program in full or you may choose to draft monthly.

Cost for shoes and dance recital costumes are extra.

The YMCA’s dance classes for younger children offer the opportunity to learn the basic to intermediate fundamentals of ballet and tap.  Classes are designed to enhance fine and gross motor skills and cultivate imagination, creativity and social development in a caring environment.  Students will grow and develop as they learn the fundamental vocabulary and skills associated with dance.  They will learn to follow a teacher’s instruction, interact with peers and develop self-confidence.

The YMCA’s dance classes for older children offer a variety of dance for all levels.  Students will learn beginning to advanced level steps and combinations depending on the class.  Along with vocabulary, stage direction, technique and body placement, students will learn creative expression and expore the art of dance.
