Strong Start Strong Finish Kids Triathlon

Strong Start Strong Finish Kids Triathlon

The inaugural Kids triathlon presented by the Fort Mill YMCA and the Baxter Barracudas Swim Team will benefit the community. This event is a fundraising partnership to help raise money for kid sponsored programs at the local Fort Mill YMCA and the Baxter Community Swim Team.

AGES: 5-9 and 10-14

DATE: April 26, 2014

TIME: 8:00am-10:00am

LOCATION: Fort Mill YMCA Outdoor Pool

PRICE: $20 Before April 25, 2014 /$30  On April 26, 2014 (day of race) per participant.

**Register by April 11, 2014 to guarantee your performance shirt!**

REGISTRATION BEGINS: March 17, 2014

NOTE* Swimming unassisted is required upon registration. Online registration will open on Monday, March 17th. Kick boards and flotation devices provided by the YMCA are permitted. Participants must provide their own bike.

“Video Game Challenge” Camp

Don’t just play games! Make them! Create your very own video game in this fun and stimulating camp for mini gamers. Design your very own Arcade or Platform game by exploring the principles of game design. Campers will be introduced to the principles of concept and storytelling through hands on project development and engineering. Campers will have the opportunity to design characters, objects, shapes, structures, and concepts all based on creativity. At the conclusion, campers will challenge each other with their own completed video game! All campers will receive a Video Challenge T-Shirt.

Ages: 3rd – 4th graders

Program Dates:  Aug 4– 8, 2014

Class Day and Time: M – F, 1 pm – 3 pm

Science & Engineering Fusion Camp

Campers will learn the principles of engineering with fusing the practicality and functionality of science. Campers will transform into Design and Mechanical Engineers while making cool projects and experimenting with science. Campers will make replica miniature robots and various structures while using their imagination to create fun and wacky projects. All campers will receive an Engineering and Science Fusion T-Shirt.

Ages: 1st  – 3rd graders

Program Dates:  July 21 – 25, 2014

Class Day and Time: M – F, 3:30 pm – 5:30 pm

Science Lab for Girls – Mini Chemist Camp

Campers will learn the principles of science fused with the practicality and functionality of technology. Campers will transform into Green Chemist while making cool and awesome projects to save mother earth. Campers will explore the world behind being a Cool Chemist, mixing ingredients, testing hypothesis and exploring theories to make sure our environment is safe from harsh toxins and chemicals. Discover the secrets to becoming a successful cosmetic designer by creating (Green) toxic free products. All campers will receive a Cool Green Chemist T-Shirt and take home product.

“The Engineering of Medievel Times” Camp

Here ye! Here ye! His Royal Highness King Kelvin bids you join him on a quest for glory! In The Engineering of Medieval Times, students unite together as a noble house and compete to build the greatest castle—for all the land to see! Joust your way to honor, engineer siege machines such as catapults and trebuchets, and battle your way to victory!

“The Engineering of Food” Camp

Create your very own food production company in this appetizing camp where students explore The Engineering of Food. Where does our food come from? How does it get from the source to the store? These questions and more are answered in a camp where students team up in a competition to unlock the secrets of delicious desserts! Grab an apron and join the fun as we compete to create mouth- watering treats!

Ages: 7 – 14

Performing Arts Camp – “It Must Be A Fairy Tale!”

 

“It must be a Fairy Tale” – Spend a week dancing, singing and acting through your favorite fairy tales…with a twist!  Campers will learn skills for stage that will carry on into other areas of life!  The camp will end with a final production on Friday night when students will perform a musical production.

American Pioneer History Camp

Explore the pioneer days of America through the delightful series “Little House on the Prairie” based on the life of Laura Ingles Wilder.   History, geography, crafting, home science skills will be learned through activities that will make history come to life.

Bricks 4 Kidz: Space Adventures w/ LEGO Bricks

An all-time favorite with new models and time for your very own modifications and builds! What out of this world creation can you design and build? Inspired by NASA and Star Wars, our Space Adventures Camp with LEGO® bricks, gears, motors and more is packed full of models that will make your young Adventurer’s imagination blast off! Each day, campers learn about real-life space exploration and build models related to the NASA space program (including rockets, shuttles, motorized satellites and robots!).  Camp Video, T-shirt and prizes included.

Bricks 4 Kidz: Minecraft II – More Mining & Crafting

New for 2014!  If your child attended Session I of our awesome Minecraft camp, he/she will love having even extra game challenges and crafting new models, mosaics and more  from the Mine Craft world!  Campers will be challenged to bring their virtual designs from the game to life with LEGO bricks. Camp Video, T-shirt and prizes included.
