Basketball

Basketball Cost:
$20 uniform fee for YMCA members | $120 for non-members

Pee Wee – Ages 3 & 4

Introduce your little one to the sport of basketball in a fun and controlled setting with staff coaches and parent volunteers. This 45 minute clinic is co-ed.

January 7 – February 11, 2015

Thursday, 4:30-5:15 pm

Biddy Basketball – Ages 5 & 6

This 8 week program is designed for boys and girls, ages 5 and 6, to learn the sport of basketball in a fun, sports friendly atmosphere. The children will practice for 30 minutes and play a game for 30 minutes.  This program requires parent volunteer coaches.

January 5 – February 23, 2015

Biddy Basketball – Ages 7 & 8

This 8 week program is designed for children ages 7 and 8. Boys and girls are welcome. Volunteers coach the children.  They will be taught the laws of the game and have fun while building their skills and confidence.

January 5 – February 23, 2015

Wednesday, 5:30-6:30 pm

U12 Boys Basketball – Ages 9-11

This program is more competitive than the basketball program for younger children. The boys will practice once a week and play full games on the weekends.

January 6 - March 10, 2015

Days and Times:
Practices will be Tuesday, Wednesday or Friday, 6:30-7:30 pm

 

U12 Girls Basketball – Ages 9-11

Nine, ten and eleven year-old girls will practice once a week and have games on Saturday and Sunday beginning January 17. This program will allow your girls to develop confidence int he game and in themselves.  Volunteer coaches are needed.

Season:
January 7 - March 15, 2015

Days and Times:
Practice will be Wednesdays, 6:30-7:30 pm.

 

U15 Boys Basketball – Ages 12-14

This competitive league will practice once a week and have a game once a week.  Participants will gain confidence and have healthy fun with friends.

Season:
January 5 - March 15, 2015

Days and Times:
Practices will be Monday, Tuesday or Thursday at 7:30-8:30 pm.

 

U15 Girls Basketball – Ages 12-14

This competitive league will practice once a week and have a game once a week.  Participants will gain confidence and have healthy fun with friends.

January 7 - March 15, 2015

Days and Times:
Practices will be Wednesday at 7:30 pm.

 

U18 Co-ed Basketball – Ages 15-17

Fifteen, sixteen and seventeen year olds will practice and play at an advanced stage with professional and committed volunteer coaches. They will teach good sportsmanship and team work which will help them excel in basketball and as young adults.

Co-ed practices will be Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday, 8:30-9:30 pm.


Rock the Y 5k

Put on those leg warmers and tease your hair for the Fort Mill YMCA Rock the Y 5k.  This 1980′s themed NIGHT race will take place in Baxter Village. There will be glow bracelets and loads of fun.  Bring the family and meet at the Fort Mill YMCA. All proceeds benefit the YMCA Financial Assistance Campaign.

Youth Dance

Youth Dance

Ages: 3-13

The YMCA Youth Dance Program continues to be one of our most popular programs. This season will include the option of Hip Hop and Acrobatics classes. Classes will be held at the Fort Mill and Gold Hill Branches. The season will begin after Labor Day and end with a recital to be held at the end of April or first of May. There is a $35 cancellation fee and no refunds are given for prepaid months of dance. Cancellations must be received in writing by the 25th of the month in order to cancel for the next month.

The YMCA’s dance classes for younger children offer the opportunity to learn the basic to intermediate fundamentals of ballet and tap.  Classes are designed to enhance fine and gross motor skills and cultivate imagination, creativity and social development in a caring environment.  Students will grow and develop as they learn the fundamental vocabulary and skills associated with dance.  They will learn to follow a teacher’s instruction, interact with peers and develop self-confidence.

The YMCA’s dance classes for older children offer a variety of dance for all levels.  Students will learn beginning to advanced level steps and combinations depending on the class.  Along with vocabulary, stage direction, technique and body placement, students will learn creative expression and expore the art of dance.
