The YMCA Youth Dance Program continues to be one of our most popular programs. This season will include the option of Hip Hop and Acrobatics classes. Classes will be held at the Fort Mill and Gold Hill Branches. The season will begin after Labor Day and end with a recital to be held at the end of April or first of May. There is a $35 cancellation fee and no refunds are given for prepaid months of dance. Cancellations must be received in writing by the 25th of the month in order to cancel for the next month.

Registration Dates:
Opens August 6 @ 9 am Registrations accepted at the Fort Mill Branch Only.

Classes begin the week of September 10

The YMCA’s dance classes for younger children offer the opportunity to learn the basic to intermediate fundamentals of ballet and tap.  Classes are designed to enhance fine and gross motor skills and cultivate imagination, creativity and social development in a caring environment.  Students will grow and develop as they learn the fundamental vocabulary and skills associated with dance.  They will learn to follow a teacher’s instruction, interact with peers and develop self-confidence.

Snowmobiling at Yellowstone

Snowmobiling at Yellowstone

We have two exciting snowmobile trips this year! Enjoy one or two days of snowmobiling in the forest surrounding West Yellowstone, Montana, and a one day guided tour into Yellowstone National Park in a “snow coach” or by snowmobile. You will see abundant wildlife including buffalo, elk, moose and more, and a winter wonderland of snow covered mountains and world famous geysers!

Ages Restrictions:
In order to drive a snowmobile, you must be 16 years of age and have a valid driver license. Any age may ride double with an adult.

Registration Dates:
Receive a $50 per person discount if you register before September 1, 2018.

YMCA Adventure Guides

Adventure Guides is a father/child program that provides opportunities for fathers and children to spend quality time together making memories. The program is designed to build strong lasting relationships by understanding companionship and a shared appreciation for the outdoors. Fall and spring trips are included. 4th Annual Fall H.O.O.P.S League

We are offering an 8 week session of H.O.O.P.S to prepare for the Winter Basketball League. This co-ed league is designed to teach the fundamental skills of the sport as well as build confidence and good leadership abilities. Each week the participants will have one hour of instruction on the fundamentals of basketball and then a one hour game. Participants will have fun and learn in a positive environment while playing in games, free throw contest, hot shots, 1 on 1 and 3 on 3.

Diabetes Prevention Program

The YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program is a one-year, community-based program where participants work in small groups with a trained Lifestyle Coach in a relaxed, classroom setting. In 16 weekly sessions followed by 8 monthly sessions, participants learn how to incorporate healthier eating, moderate physical activity, and problem-solving and coping skills into their daily lives. Participants will get the hands-on support they need from Lifestyle Coaches trained on a CDC-approved curriculum that is part of the CDC-led National Diabetes Prevention Program.

“…programs like YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program reduce new cases of type 2 diabetes by 58% overall and 71% in individuals over age 60.” – research from the National Institutes of Health

After School

The Upper Palmetto YMCA is committed to providing the highest quality After School care possible. We are excited about the unique programming opportunities provided by our After School program. We incorporate the basic Christian values of honesty, responsibility, respect and caring in our activities. Our program is designed to enhance your child’s school day through activities such as homework support, field trips, large and small group games, devotions and singing.

We strive to develop the whole child through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind, and body for all, including the following:

Healthy Spirit -We offer daily devotion time, and a group discussion time, where youth have the opportunity to reflect on their day, talk about issues and concerns impacting their lives. Youth also develop a stronger understanding of the core YMCA values of Honesty, Respect, Responsibility, and Caring.

Healthy Mind -We know how important homework time is. We provide a structured study room where youth have 30-45 minutes of homework time. Staff are on hand to support youth as they work on their assigments.

Healthy Body – In an effort to promote healthy living, the YMCA provides at least 30 minutes of daily fitness time. Activities may include:kickball game, team sports, relay races, group games, or yoga.

Transportation from school to the Fort Mill Branch YMCA is provided for your child for the following schools:

A limited amount of financial assistance is available. Join us for the #BestSummerEver! The Upper Palmetto YMCA summer camps provide activities that are educational, exciting and fun, but more importantly, it is an experience that builds self esteem, lasting friendships and treasured memories.

Summer day camp is a full day program with activities including weekly themes, field trips, swimming, games, daily devotions, team building activities, arts and crafts, character development and much more!

Our staff works diligently to make participation in our program a positive experience. We choose leaders who exemplify outstanding character, compassion and a love of children. We are committed to a thorough recruitment process including a drug screening and background check. Each staff member participates in comprehensive training and is CPR and First-Aid certified.

Financial assistance is available. Please complete the financial assistance application available online or pick-up one at the front desk. Please allow 4 weeks for processing before your child’s anticipated start date.

The program is closed on July 4th.
