Exercise Pool Changes for Swim Lessons

The Rock Hill School District Three and the YMCA share a great vision and goal of educating our children and preparing them for successful futures.  In our eyes at the Rock Hill Aquatics Center, this vision includes teaching children to swim.  It is the time of year for the Rock Hill Aquatics Center YMCA to provide free swim lessons to nearly 1800 fourth graders in the school district.  As a reminder to our members, our exercise (warm) pool will be reserved for these swim lessons Monday – Friday, 9:15am – 11:00am starting Monday, August 31 through February 2016.  We apologize for any inconveniences, and thank you for supporting the mission of our YMCA.

RAYS Swim Team

RAYS Swim Team

The RAYS Swim Team, founded in 1988, is a widely respected year – round swim team for children ages 5 and up. We are a competitive program that is designed to meet the needs of swimmers of all levels. We are a “Y” team and a “USA Swimming ” team which means we compete in local,
regional, and national YMCA meets and in meets organized by United States Swimming. Both organizations offer swimming competitions for swimmers from the beginning level up through national competition. When a young person becomes a member of the RAYS Swim Team, he / she learns the values of sportsmanship and team work along with the YMCA core values of honesty, respect, caring, and responsibility. Swimming through the RAYS, provides physical, emotional and intellectual skills that last a lifetime. Our primary practice facility is the Rock Hill Aquatic Center located at 325 Rawlinson Rd. The Rock Hill Aquatic Center is a state of the art 10 lane , 25 yard Paddock competition pool. The RAYS Swim Team host several local, state, and regional competitions at the aquatic center.

Arthritis Aquatics

Arthritis Aquatics

Ages: 15 and older

Find relief by taking this course, which puts you through specific exercises to alleviate some of the aches and pains caused by arthritis. A doctor’s note is required in order to take this class.

Aqua Aerobics

Aqua Aerobics is a wonderful class for swimmers and non swimmers of all fitness levels. If you have never exercised, have joint aches and pains, have arthritis or would love to get a great workout and mix up your usual exercise routine, we have a class for you. Aqua aerobic classes have most of the fat burning and endurance building benefits that you get from other forms of aerobic activity. An aqua aerobics class will allow you to burn between 350 and 700 calories in a one hour class due to the increased resistance to movement in the water.

Aqua aerobic benefits include :
» Great for all fitness levels
» Good for weight loss/fat burning
» Builds strength and flexibility
» Excellent cardio respiratory exercise
» Reduced impact on joints
» Tones muscles
» Improved balance and posture
» Increase flexibility, reducing capability for injury

The Aquatics center offers day and evening aqua aerobics classes as well as arthritis aquatic classes and pre natal/post natal aqua aerobics classes. Click here to view our schedules online or call 803-817-POOL (7665) for class times or information.
