Rock Hill Aquatics Center
We offer swim lessons in monthly sessions. Each session includes 8 lessons (twice a week).
Weekday Lessons: Members $45/ Non-Members $70
6 months – 3 years old
Accompanied by a parent, infants and toddlers learn to be comfortable in the water and develop swim readiness skills building experiences, while parents learn about water safety, drowning prevention, and the importance of supervision.
3-5 years old
In this swim basics program, preschoolers learn personal water safety and achieve basic swimming competency by learning two benchmark skills—swim, float, swim and jump, push, turn, grab. Through multiple sessions, children may progress to water movement, water stamina and stroke introduction.
6-12 years old
In this program, children may begin at any of the six stages in our swim program: water acclimation to stroke mechanics. The YMCA aquatics director can help determine the appropriate level. For more information about the various levels, click on the program overview link above.
13 years & older
Adult lessons help those who have an acute fear of the water up to those that need advanced stroke development. The course is fun and low key, with the participant setting the pace of the course. Participants may begin at any of the six stages in our swim program: water acclimation to stroke mechanics.
1- 30 minute lesson: $25 Members | $35 Non-members
4- 30 minute lesson:s $90 Members | $120 Non-members
One on one instruction at any swimming level from a qualified instructor. Fast pace learning with significant skill improvement.
Semi Private Lessons
Member: $60.00 for 4-30 min. sessions ($30 per participant)
Non-Member: $120.00 for 4-30 min. sessions ($60 per participant)
Please Note: While classes fill quickly, we strive to meet the needs of all our participants. If a class is full, please put your name and phone number on our waiting list as we add classes each session based upon need, pool space, and instructors availability. We will contact you if there is an opening. We will not contact you if there are not any openings. Also, lessons may be available at our other branches: Rock Hill YMCA Aquatics Center, Carolina Crossing, CSD Community and Fort Mill.
RAYS Swim Team
The RAYS Swim Team, founded in 1988, is a widely respected year – round swim team for children ages 5 and up. We are a competitive program that is designed to meet the needs of swimmers of all levels. We are a “Y” team and a “USA Swimming ” team which means we compete in local,
regional, and national YMCA meets and in meets organized by United States Swimming. Both organizations offer swimming competitions for swimmers from the beginning level up through national competition. When a young person becomes a member of the RAYS Swim Team, he / she learns the values of sportsmanship and team work along with the YMCA core values of honesty, respect, caring, and responsibility. Swimming through the RAYS, provides physical, emotional and intellectual skills that last a lifetime. Our primary practice facility is the Rock Hill Aquatic Center located at 325 Rawlinson Rd. The Rock Hill Aquatic Center is a state of the art 10 lane , 25 yard Paddock competition pool. The RAYS Swim Team host several local, state, and regional competitions at the aquatic center.
Low Impact Aquatics
Ages: 15 and older
Find relief by taking this course, which puts you through specific exercises to alleviate some of the aches and pains caused by arthritis.
Aqua Aerobics is a wonderful class for swimmers and non swimmers of all fitness levels. If you have never exercised, have joint aches and pains, have arthritis or would love to get a great workout and mix up your usual exercise routine, we have a class for you. Aqua aerobic classes have most of the fat burning and endurance building benefits that you get from other forms of aerobic activity. An aqua aerobics class will allow you to burn between 350 and 700 calories in a one hour class due to the increased resistance to movement in the water.
