Diabetes Prevention Program
The YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program is a one-year, community-based program where participants work in small groups with a trained Lifestyle Coach in a relaxed, classroom setting. In 16 weekly sessions followed by 8 monthly sessions, participants learn how to incorporate healthier eating, moderate physical activity, and problem-solving and coping skills into their daily lives. Participants will get the hands-on support they need from Lifestyle Coaches trained on a CDC-approved curriculum that is part of the CDC-led National Diabetes Prevention Program.

The program emphasizes two primary goals for the first half of the program: reduce body weight by 7% and increase physical activity by 150 minutes per week. To sign up, participants must be:
- at least 18 years old;
- overweight (BMI greater than or equal to 25); AND
- Diagnosed with prediabetes via a blood test or gestational diabetes;
- if a blood test is not available, a qualifying risk score

The goal of the personal training program is to evaluate, motivate and educate anyone who desires the extra edge personal training offers. If you are ready to see results, start personal training today! One on one fitness training with a nationally certified trainer. Please contact the branch for more details.

* Groups must have at least 5 members. Rates will adjust for any groups less than 5 participants. This program is available on an ongoing basis with registration beginning the 1st day of each month.
YMCA Camp Cherokee will be hosting the Adventure Guides group and anyone interested for the weekend of April 21 – 23. The weekend is a great opportunity for families to spend time outdoors. YMCA Camp Cherokee will be providing meals along with fun filled camp activities.
This camp is a multi-day activity. Arrival will begin at 5:00 pm on Friday, April 21. Dismissal will be at 10:00 am on Sunday, April 23. Camp Cherokee will provide 4 meals, beginning with breakfast on Saturday. Activities include boating, swimming, archery, rock climbing and more. Canopy tours will be offered for an extra fee of $45 per person.

The Spring Soccer League is for children 4-13. All participants will receive a full uniform. All teams will practice one time and play one game per week. All practices and games will be played on the fields in front of the Filtration Group on HWY 321.

Join us for the #BestSummerEver! The Upper Palmetto YMCA summer camps provide activities that are educational, exciting and fun, but more importantly, it is an experience that builds self esteem, lasting friendships and treasured memories.
Summer day camp is a full day program with activities including weekly themes, field trips, swimming, games, daily devotions, team building activities, arts and crafts, character development and much more!
Our staff works diligently to make participation in our program a positive experience. We choose leaders who exemplify outstanding character, compassion and a love of children. We are committed to a thorough recruitment process including a drug screening and background check. Each staff member participates in comprehensive training and is CPR and First-Aid certified.
Financial assistance is available. Please complete the financial assistance application available online or pick-up one at the front desk. Please allow 4 weeks for processing before your child’s anticipated start date.
The program is closed on July 4th.

Silver Sneakers is a nationally designed exercise regimen to improve strength, flexibility and range of motion as well as alleviate the pain of arthritis.
Join us for a variety of group exercise classes. Pick up an aerobic class schedule at the member service desk, or click the Schedules Page to view our schedules online.
Fitness Center Orientation
Fitness center orientations with a certified strength trainer or personal trainer are free to our members. We provide a safe, effective, easy-to-understand, personal workout program.
Cost: Free to Members

Group Fitness Classes
We offer a variety of fitness classes each week! We have certified instructors in classes such as Yoga, Beginner Yoga, Pilates, Zumba, Group Cycle, Kick Boxing, and SilverSneakers.
