Science Camp At YMCA Camp Cherokee

Join us for three days during spring break at YMCA Camp Cherokee as we explore, examine and enjoy the Kings Mountain State Park environment. Find macro-invertebrates in Clarks Creek and Lake York to determine water quality, use an increment borer to extract a tree core, release an arrow from a bow to demonstrate kinetic energy, decorate tree cookies to take home and more!

Through hands on activities and games, children are guaranteed to have a great time and learn all about the environment in which we live! This camp focuses on helping children create an appreciation for the environment that will last a lifetime and an understanding of how hands on science helps us to solve real world problems. Working together in a group, the children will enjoy teambuilding, hiking all over camp, investigating the environment and having a great time outdoors! Come each day ready for a new challenge and activity. Everyone should wear close toed shoes that are comfortable and dress appropriately for the weather and bring their own packed lunch each day, snacks are provided. We will see you at Camp!
